Sailing around the Mergui archipelago, with it’s hundreds of uninhabited islands and countless pinnacles. Recommended for the more experienced divers, we will search for sleeping sharks, swim into dark caves, “hunt” for the abundant small life (seahorses, frogfish, ghost pipefish…) and relax on the totally virgin and untouched white powder sand beaches.

Our very special week-long live-aboard trip into the “undiscovered” Burmese Archipelago. This is indeed one of the most exciting live-aboard trips you can find anywhere. With over 900 islands we will be far away from other boats and diving in one of the most beautiful and unchartered places in the world. The variety here is amazing and every trip is unique. Burma is famous for its large animal encounters with sharks, whales, large rays, dolphins and occasionally killer whales! Macro enthusiasts will not be disappointed either as the area is blessed with an abundance of seahorses, pipefish, nudibranchs, cephalopods and crustaceans.

There are creatures here found no-where else and even the chance to find and photograph yet to be described species. We will visit underwater pinnacles, wander around underwater plateaus, go deep, drift dive with the current, enter dark caves and go into swim-troughs. Sometimes we may dive lakes inside islands and even search for and discover new dive sites. It isn’t “all-go” and there will be plenty of opportunities to visit and relax on the many secluded islands and beaches on offer. Fantastic natural encounters above water are also available with opportunities to visit amazing mangrove systems and see large flocks of hornbills and flying foxes, sea eagles, kingfishers, reptiles and wild pigs. We guarantee that a Burma trip will be a once in a lifetime experience and one you will never forget.

SPECIAL Reefcheck Expedition (dates to be confirmed next season)
ECoSwiss, in parnership with The Smiling Seahorse welcomes all passionate divers who care about corals and conservation to join the Reef Check Expedition to our study area in Myanmar! This project is part of our trans-border MABR conservation programme and promotes international collaboration on nature conservation and awareness. We particularly encourage recreational divers to join reef scientists in the first extended expedition to survey the basic health of the coral reefs around the Bada Island group. Burmese, Thai and international divers and scientists are warmly welcome!
