From Open Water to Advanced: A Trip of Diving, Learning and Fireworks

There is always something special about a liveaboard departure night. The excitement of the trip ahead, the anticipation of the first dives and the feeling of leaving the shore behind all come together to mark the beginning of another underwater adventure.
But while some of us were enjoying the celebrations and getting ready for the dives ahead, others had some serious studying going on!
New Divers and New Certifications
We are delighted to welcome Myri to the diving community! During this trip, she completed her Open Water certification with flying colours and was already incredibly at ease underwater.
Watching someone discover scuba diving for the first time is always rewarding. The first few dives are about getting comfortable in a completely new environment, learning to control buoyancy and becoming familiar with the equipment. Myri clearly took to it remarkably quickly, and it was fantastic to see her confidence developing underwater.
Meanwhile, her friends took the opportunity to continue their own diving education. Anna, Angie, Sebastian and Cosi are now Advanced Open Water divers! And good ones at that.
You should have seen them navigating squares with a compass in hand… Clearly, the training was being taken seriously!
Yes people, these were some serious students…
Congratulations to you all!!
Continuing your diving education is a great way to build confidence underwater while discovering new skills and new ways of enjoying the ocean. From navigation to deeper dives and other adventure skills, every new certification opens the door to more possibilities on future diving trips.
Barracudas, Batfish and More Underwater Action
Of course, all that studying was balanced with plenty of time in the water. Once the books and compasses were put away, it was time to explore the underwater world and see what was waiting on the reefs.
A little video from our dives: barracudas and batfish are around 🙂
Barracudas and batfish are two very different encounters, which is part of what makes a day of diving so enjoyable. One moment you can be watching a school of sleek barracudas moving through the blue, and the next you may find yourself surrounded by the distinctive shapes of batfish cruising around the reef. For the newly certified divers, these encounters were also part of the experience of putting their newly acquired skills into practice. There is no better classroom than the ocean itself, and every dive brings another opportunity to become more comfortable, more observant and more confident underwater.
A Trip Full of Milestones
From the fireworks ceremony on departure night to a first Open Water certification, four new Advanced Open Water certifications and plenty of memorable dives, this was clearly a trip with something to celebrate.
For Myri, it was the beginning of her journey into scuba diving. For Anna, Angie, Sebastian and Cosi, it was another important step forward in their diving adventures. And for everyone on board, there was plenty of underwater life to enjoy along the way.
Congratulations again to all our students, and welcome to the diving community, Myri!
