First Mergui Archipelago Dive Cruise of the Season with Xaloc Dive Centre
This was a very special week for the Smiling Seahorse: we welcomed our first group of the season!
Arriving directly from Barcelona, we were delighted to have the Xaloc Dive Centre team on board for an awesome Myanmar diving adventure. They spent seven days with us exploring the Mergui Archipelago, and we had a blast!
A typical day on a Myanmar liveaboard starts early, with a morning dive and plenty of opportunities to discover the incredible marine life of this remote part of the Andaman Sea. Our Spanish team quickly got into the rhythm and met some beautiful underwater creatures, including these very cute cuttlefish.

Searching for colourful nudibranchs
After a breakfast of champions and a small nap, it was time to get ready for the second dive of the day.
All the groups were working together to find the small and colourful creatures we love so much: nudibranchs. These tiny sea slugs can be surprisingly difficult to spot, but once someone finds one, everyone wants to come over and have a look. Our divers certainly had their eyes open!

Lunch, naps and life on board
It was now time for lunch together. Our chef, Chewy, was taking care of everyone with fried rice, a Thai speciality. Even Sharky, our mascot, loved it!

Diving is exhausting, after all, and our Spanish guests were happy to enjoy a nap on the sundeck. The sofa looked pretty comfortable too 😉

Ghost pipefish and seahorses on the third dive
And look at what we could find on the third dive! These ghost pipefish and seahorses were hidden pretty well, but our team had eagle eyes!
Finding these smaller animals is part of what makes diving in the Mergui Archipelago so rewarding. You never quite know what is hiding among the reef, waiting for someone to spot it.

A Burmese sunset and a Spanish dancer
It was now time for our Spanish team to enjoy the Burmese sunset before ending the day with a beautiful night dive.
And what a way to finish! The Spanish divers met a Spanish dancer swimming around in the darkness. What a show!

BBQ night aboard the MV Smiling Seahorse
Finally, after a good day of diving, it was time for a drink with everybody. This night was our famous BBQ night, and all our guests enjoyed it.
Even the sharks were invited too!! 😉

Thank you, Xaloc Dive Centre!
Thank you to all the divers from Xaloc Dive Centre for joining us for our first group trip of the season. Seven days exploring the Mergui Archipelago, plenty of great dives, tiny creatures, beautiful sunsets, good food and lots of laughs made it a fantastic way to start the season.
We hope to see you again soon.
¡Hasta pronto!
