Celebrating New Year’s Eve on a Myanmar Liveaboard
Happy New Year everyone!!!
The Smiling Seahorse team wishes you all the best for 2019… We had a fantastic celebration for this New Year’s Eve with a fun group of people: Nina, Alexander and Ashley from the USA; Serge, Anne-Claire, Conny and Kurt from Belgium; Ken, Dixon and Mick from Hong Kong; Marianne, Claire, Bruno and Jean from France; Kamal from Germany and Sofia from Sweden.
A Festive Evening on Board
We had a delicious barbecue cooked with love by our chef Chewi and his help Youb!
While the guests were enjoying the last sunset of 2018…
We were busy preparing the cocktails…
…that certainly satisfied all of us!
It was just a warm-up, everybody was already in the mood!!!
Even Sharky had a great party!
It was followed by amazing fireworks at midnight in the middle of the Mergui Archipelago, which were so astonishing that everybody was too busy watching instead of taking pictures! An absolutely unforgettable experience…
Diving into the New Year
But let’s go back to the beginning of the cruise! We were treated to really nice weather…
It was perfect for chilling on the sun deck, relaxing in the hammocks, reading, or napping on the sofa…
And down below, it was a delight… there was life everywhere.
We saw so many schools of different fish… batfish, jacks, barracudas, and rainbow runners. Just look at that!
Corals, shells… so much perfection and beauty!
From Gentle Giants to Macro Wonders
We encountered everything from big pelagics…
…to the smaller, more intricate critters.
We found all kinds of flatworms, nudibranchs, and Spanish dancers…
There was a multitude of different shrimps, including mantis shrimps and Harlequin shrimps.
We saw ornate ghost pipefish hiding in the soft corals…
…and some lovely frogfish!
And plenty of other great finds: cuttlefish, cowries, and perfectly camouflaged stonefish.
Plus our sweet little mascot!
Smiles Everywhere
There were happy faces all over the boat!
And big smiles underwater too…
For our pleasure, we were treated to some nice shots of the outside surroundings…
…and the breathtaking sunrises to start our mornings right.
