Whale Sharks, Turtles and Burma Banks: An Amazing Final Week of Diving in Burma
This last week in Burma was absolutely awesome! Our lucky divers had the chance to dive with some of the most beautiful creatures in the Andaman Sea: turtles, whale sharks, nurse sharks and plenty more.
It was a fantastic way to finish the season, with memorable encounters underwater and an unforgettable final adventure at the remote Burma Banks.
Whale Sharks, Turtles and Nurse Sharks
The big animals certainly made this final cruise special. A whale shark accompanied by cobias was one of the highlights, while a green turtle added another beautiful encounter to the trip.
Our divers also had the chance to encounter a nurse shark, making it a particularly memorable week for shark lovers.
Finishing the Season at the Burma Banks
We also had the chance to finish our season at the Burma Banks. The massive, centuries-old coral formations impressed our divers and provided a spectacular setting for the final dives of the season.
The Burma Banks are one of the remote highlights of diving in Myanmar, offering a very different experience from the island and reef sites elsewhere in the Mergui Archipelago.
Small Creatures on the Final Cruise
Some smaller species were part of the trip too! Alongside the spectacular encounters with large marine animals, our divers also enjoyed looking for octopus, squid and seahorses.
From impressive pelagic encounters to fascinating macro life, this final cruise showed once again just how much variety can be found beneath the surface of the Andaman Sea.
A Special Birthday Celebration on Board
We also had a very special event this week! The entire crew of the Smiling Seahorse wished a very happy birthday to Petra from Germany.
Celebrating together after a week of diving was the perfect way to add an extra special moment to the final cruise of the season.
