Exploring the Mergui Archipelago: Sharks, Mantas and Rare Marine Life
Always a big smile and plenty of fun aboard the MV Smiling Seahorse!

We travelled around the Mergui Archipelago and navigated towards the Burma Banks, where we were rewarded with excellent visibility and encounters with several silvertip reef sharks, nurse sharks and a gorgeous eagle ray.

Stunning Sunsets Around Western Rocky
The sunsets around Western Rocky were absolutely stunning. Out here, every day ends with another spectacular view over the Andaman Sea.

We had some fantastic dives at Seafan Forest, including a very special encounter with an oceanic manta ray.
At Eagle Rock, we also enjoyed a spectacular dusk dive surrounded by pickhandle barracudas, African pompanos and bigeye jacks.
The Mergui Archipelago continued to surprise us with its smaller marine life too. We spotted a very cute hawksbill turtle and even some rare harlequin shrimp.

A Close Encounter with a Dragon Seamoth
And when you start looking closely, the Mergui Archipelago has even more surprises in store.
This time, we met a very special dragon seamoth. Just look at its unusual, almost bubbly-looking body — isn’t it super cute?
Seamoths move along the seafloor using their modified pelvic fins. Their toothless, tube-like mouths are adapted for sucking up worms and other small invertebrates.

Congratulations to Our Divers
Congratulations to Manuel and Javier for becoming Nitrox divers, and to Jean-Paul and Jean-No for successfully completing their Advanced Open Water course!
We hope to see you all again for another adventure beneath the surface of the Andaman Sea.
