An Incredible Christmas Liveaboard Trip in Burma
What an incredible trip in Burma (Myanmar) for Christmas! We must have been very good during the whole year to be rewarded with such amazing diving.
The lucky ones were having a lot of fun underwater, as you will see from the pictures. A huge welcome and thank you to our fantastic guests: Aapo and Kaisa from Finland; Rainer from Germany; Ed from the Netherlands; Yiwen and Hao from China; Jeff and Jordin from the USA, and Phanom from Thailand.
Big Pelagic Encounters
Starting with the big stuff, we had magnificent manta rays gliding over the reefs…

And as if that was not enough, we had an amazing surprise during a safety stop. Looking below us, we witnessed a huge, gentle ocean giant swimming peacefully, completely surrounded by its rainbow runner friends.
The visibility was great throughout the cruise, and the gentle currents brought huge schools of fish everywhere we looked.

Macro Wonders and Night Dives
From the very first night dive, we had the pleasure of meeting these little cuties…

Spanish dancers had also seemingly invaded the reefs!

Among the most beautiful surprises of this trip were the frogfishes! We found a giant one…

…and a tiny one too!

There were plenty of ornate ghost pipefishes trying their best to camouflage in the crinoids and soft corals.

We spotted all kinds of nudibranchs with unbelievable colours…

…along with several species of cowries…

It was also a crab fiesta down there!

Seahorses were there too—how can you not fall in love with this tiny baby one!

And so much more amazing stuff was found! A marbled ray gliding by, a spearing mantis shrimp peeking out of its hole, a sleepy turtle, a tiny Zanzibar shrimp (can you spot it?), a fimbriated moray eel, a spotted boxfish… the list goes on!

The flora was absolutely astonishing too, with vibrant colours everywhere.

A Festive Christmas on Board
On board, it was a wonderfully Christmassy atmosphere with plenty of decorations and festive cheer!

There were smiles absolutely everywhere.

We treated everyone to a delicious barbecue night for Christmas dinner.

The sunsets were simply splendid, and the outdoor scenery as we cruised through the archipelago was always interesting and beautiful.
